Prince Albert of Prussia (1809-1872)

Albert (German: Albrecht; 4 October 1809, Königsberg14 October 1872, Berlin) was a Prussian colonel general. Albert was the fourth son of King Frederick William III of Prussia and Louise of Mecklenburg-Strelitz.

Albert married Marianne, daughter of King William I of the Netherlands, in 1830. The marriage was dissolved in 1849. They had the following children:

In 1853, Albert married Rosalie von Rauch, Countess of Hohenau, daughter of Gustav von Rauch. They had the following children:

  • William, Count of Hohenau (1854-1930)
  • Bernhard, Count of Hohenau (1857-1914)

Prinz-Albrecht-Strasse in Berlin, now Niederkirchnerstrasse, was named after him.
