Primula (Shuffle!)

Primula (プリムラ Purimura?), nicknamed Rimu (リム?), is a mysterious demoness from the Demon World who appeared in episode 2 looking for Rin in Shuffle! and eventually moves in with him and Kaede Fuyou. She grows a strong attachement to Rin and also Kaede . She was particularly close to Nerine-chan for other reasons. Primula rarely smiled at all. In her hands she held a cat doll which she is seen playing with from time to time.
The characters of Shuffle! have a theme of being named after plants. In this case, primula is also the name of a genus of low-growing herbs.
Primula is voiced by Hitomi and was designed by Aoi Nishimata.
[edit] Story Arc
Primula meets Rin in the second episode, whom she wished to meet after hearing about him from Lycoris. Primula hugs Rin and holds her arms around him (all the way to Rin's home) when they first met, though Primula finds it difficult to verbally express her emotions. Because Primula has no home in the human world, she would later live with Rin and Kaede, as Primula really wanted to live with Rin 'in this same house'. For a while, the kings and their daughters were somewhat concerned; however, in the end Primula ended up staying. The two Kings were shocked to see Primula there in the human world, but didn't mind Primula staying there, as they felt that Rin could help bring out Primula's emotions, which Rin is eventually somewhat successful in accomplishing.
Throughout the series, Primula develops a closer bond with Rin, as well as with Kaede and the other girls too. Whenever she saw Rin going on a date with another girl, Primula could tell that it affected Kaede. This problem would be explained later on in the show.
Towards the end of the series, Rin left Primula at the house without explaining anything to her. The actual reason why he left was to help Kaede, which Rin talked to Kaede about. Primula ended up staying there, Rin-chan tries to cheer Kaede up when she is feeling down. Kaede feels better with Primula around, but it is still clear that Kaede is still a somewhat upset by Rin's absence.
Primula's powers are controlled by her emotions. This is why when she was first introduced in Shuffle!, Primula had little facial expression. The first time she smiled is when Rin gave her a new cat doll. Primula starts to smile more often after receiving the cat doll from Rin. When Primula starts to gain better control of her powers/emotion later into the show, she smiles a lot more. But because of all these new emotions her magic goes out of control for a while, but eventually she regains control of her power. Primula's humor is the same, but it shows a lot more because of the way she is able to express herself more.
At the end, Primula lives with Kaede in the Fuyou household and enrolls in the Verbana Academy with Rin and the others and basically becomes the narrator for the last part of the season finale. Like all the other girls in the end, Primula still does love Rin. In a rather funny but cute scene involved Primula giving Rin some special food(herb roll,extra bitter edition) that was drugged and ended in him falling onto her with herself rubbing/hugging him. At the ending credits, Primula loses at a card game against the God and Demon King so she blows them up in retaliation.
