Opened as the Primadonna Hotel. A seven-year old girl named Sherrice Iverson was murdered in the hotel's restroom by then 18-year old Jeremy Strohmeyer on May 25th, 1997. Strohmeyer pleaded guilty to all counts and was sentenced to four life terms. The bad publicity this generated was likely the main impetus for the name change, along with a general makeover of the area.
