[edit] Background

Team PrISUm is the multi-disciplinary solar car team from Iowa State University. PrISUm began in 1990 as a project for engineering honor students in Tau Beta Pi. It now accepts members from all disciplines. The team of about 40 students designs and builds a new car from scratch every two years. Many of the materials are donated by sponsors, and the rest is financed through corporate sponsors and individual donations. The team is currently developing their 9th car to compete against four time winner and reigning champion, University of Michigan Solar Car Team, in the 2007 American Solar Challenge.
