This is a photograph of a Dutch politician or other public official that is released by the Dutch Rijksvoorlichtingsdienst (RVD, Dutch Government Information Service), which allows downloading and reproduction of the photograph for

  • private use,
  • educational use and
  • use by the press.
  • where the image is unrepeatable, i.e. a free image could not be created to replace it;

As well, permission may have been granted to reproduce this image for noncommercial-only purposes, but this image does not fall under a free license. Commercial third-party reusers of this image should have permission from the RVD or other copyright holders for using this image and usage for advertisement is not allowed.

It is therefore believed that the use of this photograph

  • to illustrate the person in question,
  • when the image is unreplaceable, i.e., no free equivalent is available or could be created,
  • on the English-language Wikipedia, hosted on servers in the United States by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation,

qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law. Other use of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement. See Wikipedia:Fair use.

From the DRF's website: This section contains photos of the Queen and members of the Royal House. These high-resolution photos, whose copyright belongs to the Government Information Service (© RVD), may be downloaded, used and reproduced for private and non-commercial educational purposes. They may also be used by the media. Anyone wishing to use them for other purposes must apply for permission to the Government Information Service or other copyright holder. They may not be used for advertising purposes. Copyright in the Royal House website is expressly reserved by the Government Information Service, including on behalf of any third-party copyright holders.

This image is used under a fair use rationale, but may fail Wikipedia's first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a free image that provides substantially the same information might reasonably be found or created. See the talk page for details.

If you believe that a free replacement image can not be reasonably found or created, please add the following to this page:

{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}

If this image is determined to be replaceable within one week from (7 December 2006) (14 December), the image may be deleted by any administrator. Do not remove this tag.

Tagger: If this image has, at the time of tagging, a rationale explaining why it is irreplaceable, please do not forget to explain on the talk page why you think that rationale is not valid. Tags applied in contravention of this requirement may be removed; if a rationale is added after the tagging, the normal process for disputing a tag should be followed. After adding this tag, please notify the uploader with
{{subst:replaceable|Princess Amalia of the Netherlands.jpg}} ~~~~
Also consider adding:
{{subst:refu-c}}
to the caption in article(s) the image is used to give a little advance warning that a free licensed replacement should be sought after. Adding {{reqphoto}}, or one of the more specific image request templates (listed on the reqphoto template page), to the article's talk page may also be helpful if there are no other images in the article already.
