Talk:Prevx1

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hi,

I made as much attempt as possible to keep it neutral and explain the program, it's background, and it's function as neutral as possible without making it purely promotional. I'm willing to take any feedback you might have if there's something that you think constitutes promotion..

Prevx1 isn't a typical security software application, and it's concept and purpose are not well understood, so the article was written to attempt to explain the concept behind the program without pushing it's usage. It's also why no external links were included, etc. Like I say, if someone feels that's not clear then it can always be changed, which I'm more than happy to do myself, but my intention was indeed to keep it factual.

Edit: I've edited the article to try and make it more unequivocally neutral, I hope it's more suitable... I will continue to look for things I can change. I do hope for some feedback as I am more than willing to compromise.

This was ridiculously detailed and I've reduced it to two lines. "It's primary features are the endpoint security agent, community database, and extensive realtime heuristics. Prevx1 is made to suit both home environments as well as small business and corporate environments, with centralized management for business customers." (from the lead paragraph) is all technical jargon and means nothing to the general reader. -- Steel 13:19, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

Fair enough.. actually that's quite valuable feedback, thank you. I will see about creating a very basic timeline of the company/product so that readers can at least have a basic idea of what it is about, if there are no objections. I will avoid using terms that don't have wikipedia definitions, and include internal links where appropriate.

Regarding being notable in the field - You can find notable mentions of Prevx in this article http://digg.com/security/Security_vendor_hit_by_spite_attack_Gromozon_vs_Marco_Giuliani Prevx may not be as big as Symantec or McAfee, but are neither "rogue" nor unknown to the anti-malware community. Prevx also offers intelligence about widespread attacks to institutions such as SANS and actively participates/cooperates with the security community at large.

Generally stuff is considered notable if it's been covered in multiple non-trivial published works. Bear in mind everything you add to the article must have a source. -- Steel 21:53, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
