[edit] Name

The correct title of this article is "Point Douglas Drawbridge". I was not able to move this article because I have not been registered for four days. Would someone please move this article the the appropriate title? A redirect page for "Prescott Drawbridge" is also needed. -DSkluz

Read sources HAER If any move should be made it would be to Prescott Bridge --Dual Freq 12:37, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

I've found that the official name of the bridge is actually "Prescott Highway Bridge". See EPA Federal Register. It is usually referred to as the Prescott Drawbridge or the Point Douglas Drawbridge,(the name used by John Weeks III) and one of these would be best. "Prescott Bridge" was the name of the old liftbridge, aka "Prescott Toll Bridge" at this site which was replaced by the current bridge. Source: Structurae Using "drawbridge" rather than "bridge" would help discern this bridge from the Prescott International Bridge. - Dskluz 21:50, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Original name

Could someone please explain the logic behind the name of this article? I've lived in the La Crosse area all my life, and I've never heard the bridge referred to as "Prescott Toll Bridge"; it's always been referred to as the Cass Street Bridge as far as I can tell. I suspect this might be referring to a bridge somewhere near Prescott, Wisconsin (just a guess from the name), but that's much farther upriver, by the Twin Cities. BryanG 07:02, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

This article is most likely misnamed. John Weeks III calls this bridge The Mississippi River Bridge (US-14/US-61 Mississippi River Crossing Downtown La Crosse). Though I'm not from La Crosse, I would tend to agree. I'm not sure how to fix this, but I think this article should be moved/renamed to Mississippi River Bridge and that article should be renamed I-90 Bridge, I-90 Mississippi River Bridge or whatever the local name of the bridge is. It looks to me that the Prescott Toll bridge doesn't cross the Mississippi, but St. Croix River from Wisconsin to Minnesota. Pretty complicated series of moves, anybody want to head that up? --Dual Freq 06:59, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

I moved the articles around as described above. There was minimal history and preexisting pages, so I just copied and pasted the articles I couldn't move. --Dual Freq 15:20, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

I'm having second thoughts about this being the bridge at Prescott over the St. Croix River. It certainly isn't the one in La Crosse as it originally was stated. The only bridge listed in USGS GNIS that has Prescott in the name is the Ogdensburg-Prescott International Bridge[1], which is a toll bridge. Wikipedia has a stub covering this bridge named: St. Lawrence Bridge. Can anyone verify if the drawbridge in Prescott, WI crossing the St. Croix was a toll bridge? If not, we may need to delete this article or redirect to St. Lawrence Bridge. --Dual Freq 00:36, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
