just a begining,way to go!--Sahodaran 05:55, 26 September 2005 (UTC)
- Added a little tiny bit more; still way to go. If others take little steps perhaps even one of two lines a time, would be nice. i don't know how to preserve the funny-ness of the story in writing an article about it. premalekhanam may not be greatest kind of literature, stil deserves anicely written article. As for myself, want to write the aricle at a snail's pace. enjoy editing! vinodam jeevithathintae...

[edit] Attempted translation
My dearest Saraamma, When life is at its most intense state of youth, and one's heart has reached its most beautifull-est state of love, how does my dearest friend while away her time during this rare and shortlived beautiful period of life? As for me, I am living each moment of my life with my mind stirring hopelessly in love with my saaraama. what about saaraamaa? i request you to think deeply and kindly bless me with a sweetly generous reply,
Saaraama's own,
Keshavan Nair --Pournami 10:47, 1 October 2005 (UTC)
- Good Work.Put it into the article yourself, and link to the one written in Malayalam. This one I have here is not good, try making one yourself,if you can.--Sahodaran 08:59, 1 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Social Significance (Ideas for furthur edits)
[edit] "and other reactionary conventions existing in the society."
really? what? does he not also attack the "dunguduthanchi"? is that falling under reactionary convention? what's a better generalization for it?
- Well.Could be,could not be.Depends on the extent to which one interprets it.May be it could be titled Vanity. As for others...Will think over it.--Sahodaran 14:24, 1 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] clarification
-
- it attacks religious conservatism and stupidity; under religious conservatism comes
- 1. oppostion to i-r marriage(which could also come under the heading, stupidity)
- 2. dowry--whether it is conservatism that results in dowry i can't say;
- 3. i don't know what no. 3 is.
- by stupidity, i mean flimsy reasons that are used to argue that i-r marriages must inevitably lead to disaster.. btw, the attack on dowry is somewhat roudabout; but is still an attack any way. K.N. thanks the dowry system that has ensured that S. has been unable to get married as of yet. ataack on conservatism? perhaps much more. perhaps no. 3. is arranged marriage; but can't substantiate that claim. --Pournami 09:50, 2 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Quotes
Of course, the wordings of the translation can and should be improved
On Inter-Religious marriage
- Society.Church.Think!Two matured individuals, with a reasonable education and a reasonable amount of wisdom. The society will not feed them for free.Temple and Church, let them stand where they are.But dont let them to create Walls between our hearts.Forgiveness,compassion,charity-these are never to be forgotten.
On the religion of their (future) children
- As they grow old,let us teach them the principles of all religions objectively, without any bias. Then let them choose themselves the best one they feel,as they attain maturity.
[edit] Names of the lovers and of their children
one important factor in the funny-ness of the story is the names of the lovers; repeated over and over again, esp, the nair at the end of the name signifying caste. And the names they plan to call their offsprings!
