Talk:Pre 13th century in literature

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mahabharata - 1316BC, That's pretty precise, for a long time ago and an text that has "grown in the telling". Is there any actual evidence for this date? the main mahabharta page doesn't give a date. Zeimusu 13:39, 2004 Oct 31 (UTC)

That's a good question. Ask Mkweise, who put it on Epic. Jan Pedersen 11:22, 1 Nov 2004 (UTC)
it's the traditional (legendary) date. I listed it under "Iron Age". Actual estimates range around the 1st or 2nd century AD. This may be described as "Iron Age" in India still, and if we list it under an AD century, Hindu editors will object. dab () 14:49, 13 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] split?

The scope of this article is too large. Wee need to at least split of "Medieval literature", and maybe 12th century as a separate article. Bronze/Iron Age may possibly also be split off from "Classical Antiquity", or lump it as "Ancient literature". dab () 14:49, 13 January 2006 (UTC)
