Pretty Noose, a Chris Cornell composition, was the A side of a CD single sampler released by Soundgarden in 1996. It reached number 4 in the US Rock charts. It is also the first track on the group's album, Down on the Upside.

Pretty Noose was nominated for a Grammy award for Best Hard Rock Performance in 1997.
