Preston Park, Stockton-on-Tees

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Preston Park is a 100 acre public park owned by Stockton Borough Council, and located next to the River Tees, in Preston-on-Tees. The park is a popular local attraction.

The showground hosts various summer fairs, and other parts of the park boast great views of the near by farms. There are massive open spaces for family events, picnics, and sports.

When it snows Preston Park is popular with the sledgers due to the banks down towards the river.

The Park consists of the grounds of Preston Hall which is now a museum, and other attractions include a miniature railway which operates during the summer, Butterfly World, and the woodland walks and open spaces. The walk through Quarry Wood goes past the "Dippers" which is a local hotspot for amateur mountain bikers. It continues to an open air walk by the riverside, then back into the woodland and up again to the main areas of the park.
