Prescott Valley, Arizona

Prescott Valley is a town in Yavapai County, Arizona, United States. The population was 23,535 at the 2000 census. Prescott Valley was the seventh fastest-growing place among all cities and towns in Arizona between 1990 and 2000. According to 2005 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the town is 33,068.[1]

Prescott Valley is located at 34°36′8″N, 112°19′19″W (34.602229, -112.321922)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 82.2 km² (31.7 mi²), all land.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 23,535 people, 8,964 households, and 6,633 families residing in the town. The population density was 286.5/km² (742.0/mi²). There were 9,484 housing units at an average density of 115.4/km² (299.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 91.10% White, 0.48% Black or African American, 0.96% Native American, 0.55% Asian, 0.14% Pacific Islander, 4.59% from other races, and 2.16% from two or more races. 11.12% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 8,964 households out of which 33.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.5% were married couples living together, 10.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.0% were non-families. 19.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.60 and the average family size was 2.96.

In the town the population was spread out with 26.8% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 27.4% from 25 to 44, 21.3% from 45 to 64, and 17.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 96.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.9 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $34,341, and the median income for a family was $37,257. Males had a median income of $30,097 versus $21,049 for females. The per capita income for the town was $16,248. About 7.8% of families and 10.9% of the population were below the poverty line, including 13.9% of those under age 18 and 6.7% of those age 65 or over.
