Premium station

A premium station is a railway station on Melbourne's suburban rail network that has:

  • An enclosed waiting area
  • Open toilets (at most stations toilets close after evening peak to prevent illegal activity)
  • Staff from first to last train, who are available for ticket sales (including concession cards and V/Line tickets), answering of customer queries, and general running of the station (including, for example, bookings for bicycle locker hire).

The five City Loop stations (Flinders Street, Southern Cross, Flagstaff, Melbourne Central, and Parliament) are all premium stations.

Other stations are assigned premium status based mainly on their level of patronage. These include:
