Premium Economy

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Premium Economy is a travel class offered on some airlines as a form of upgrade to the Economy class, typically by offering better seats, and in some cases, better service, in return for higher fares. Airlines offering this service include Air Canada, Virgin Atlantic, KLM, All Nippon Airways, Scandinavian Airlines System, Singapore Airlines, British Airways, and United Airlines, amongst others.

In most cases, the Premium Economy class constitutes a separate section of the coach cabin which generally provides more legroom by removing a few rows of seats. Some airlines may designate an entire economy classes as premium, such as Singapore Airlines on its Airbus A340-500 aircraft (which calls them Executive Economy).

Premium Economy is often provided as a free upgrade to elite frequent flyer program members and passengers flying full-fare economy, but some airlines also allow non-elite customers to pay an additional fee for a confirmed reservation in the premium section.
