- December 4, 2006: President Gloria Arroyo's husband Jose Miguel had a safe "minor" heart operation last morning, a procedure that government initially refused to identify. His husband has been sent to the hospital's recovery room after a heart procedure called angioplasty.[1]
- December 3, 2006: President Arroyo declared a state of national calamity Sunday in the wake of Typhoon Durian, allowing the government to more rapidly release funds needed to bolster search and rescue efforts. Relief efforts in the Philippines faced delays Sunday for survivors, as fears grew of a rising death toll in the archipelago nation from last week's storm.[2]
- December 1, 2006: About 2,000 members of various groups staged rallies in Bacolod City to commemorate the 143rd birthday of Andres Bonifacio and oppose a possible Charter Change under the administration of President Arroyo.[3]
