Prairie pothole

The Prairie Pothole Region (PPR) is an area of the Great Plains that is covered with grass-covered wetlands. The PPR is pockmarked with thousands of shallow ponds, known as potholes. The region is important to both agriculture and wildlife, especially fish and birds.
