Pozières
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Pozières is a village in Somme, France. It lies between Albert and Bapaume, on the Pozières ridge.
Pozières was the site of the Battle of Pozières, part of the Battle of the Somme in World War I, during which it was destroyed by shelling.
The village was subsequently rebuilt, and is now the site of several war memorials. The Australian flag flies over Pozières in recognition of the contributions the ANZACS made in the Battle of Pozières.
