Power of the Dollar is a locally released, but heavily bootlegged, album from rap artist 50 Cent.

The album is often considered 50 Cent's "purest" hip-hop album, as he was still heavily involved in the criminal underground as he recorded it. His lyrical style is also much different than future albums -- the album is praised for it's complex lyrical structure, and flow.

The album's underground hit, "How To Rob," sparked controversy. Originally titled, "How to Rob an Industry Nigga," 50 Cent mentions several prominent figures in the hip hop and R&B industry by name, and comedically explains how he would rob them, often at gunpoint.

The first single released from the album was "Thug Love" featuring Destiny's Child. But Columbia Records, for whom Power of the Dollar was produced, never released the album. Shortly before the album release date, 50 Cent was involved in a shooting incident in May of 2000. Wounded nine times by a hitman, 50 Cent recovered, but Columbia considered the event bad publicity. Columbia subsequently terminated 50 Cent's contract and shelved the album permanently.

The song "Your Life's on the Line" was later featured on 50's subsequent debut album, Get Rich or Die Tryin'.

The song "Ghetto Qu'ran" has been speculated to be the reason for his shooting.
