[edit] Campus

Poway High School is situated in Poway, which is in the northern part of San Diego County, approximately 35 miles northeast of downtown San Diego. The campus covers 59 acres (238,765 ).

Although currently under construction, the new PHS campus is on schedule to be complete in late 2008.

[edit] Extracurricular activities

Athletics

Poway's athletic teams, the Titans, compete in the Palomar League and the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) San Diego Section.

The school fields teams in 15 sports: baseball, basketball, cheerleading, cross country, football, golf, lacrosse, roller hockey, soccer, softball, swim and dive, tennis, track and field, volleyball, water polo, and wrestling.

Poway High's most successful athletic program is the wrestling program, which has won 3 state championships, 57 different CIF division awards, and numerous Palomar League awards.

The Titans had a tough football season with heartbreaking losses to Mt. Carmel and Rancho Bernardo. They finished the regular season 5-5, were given the 11th seed in the CIF Division I playoffs, and knocked off Mira Mesa High School, won a rematch against Torrey Pines High School, who was 9-1, and even though they were battered by La Costa Canyon High School -the Palomar League Champions- they beat them 7-3 and now are going to play Carlsbad in the CIF Division 1 Championship at Qualcomm Stadium. Obviously, the loss to Mt. Carmel was a fluke.

Titans' Girls Golf team fields a dominant team the last two years and has won the 2006 CIF State Championship this year as well as CIF Sectional.

Instrumental music

Poway's marching band is called the Emerald Brigade.
