Pound Puppies and the Legend of Big Paw

Pound Puppies and the Legend of Big Paw is an animated film released on March 15, 1988. It was directed by Pierre DeCalles, and starred the voices of Ruth Buzzi, Tony Longo and B. J. Ward.
Set in the 1950s, it tells the story of how the Pound Puppies and Purries can communicate with humans thanks to a magical bone called the "Bone of Scone" (a reference to the Stone of Scone). The Pound Puppies (except Cooler and the Purries) are turned evil, but are changed back when someone tells them "I love you".
The movie's animation and character design were different from the series, and were hence not part of the latter's continuity. New Pound Puppies—Collette, Beamer, and Reflex, along with the Pound Purries Hairball (boy purrie) and Chalare Mane (girl purrie)—were introduced, along with two teenagers that replaced the 11-year-old Holly, by the names of Tammy and Jeff.
The Legend of Big Paw only grossed more than $500,000 in the United States. [1] It was distributor TriStar's first animated feature, and its only one until 2001's The Trumpet of the Swan. The film premiered on DVD in the United States, courtesy of Lionsgate, on October 24, 2006.
