Poule d'Essai des Poulains

The Poule d'Essai des Poulains is a Group 1 flat horse race in France for three-year-old thoroughbred colts run over a distance of 1,600 metres (approximately 1 mile) at Longchamp Racecourse in May. It is the French equivalent of the English 2,000 Guineas.

This race, along with the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches for fillies, was first run in 1883. Prior to this there had been a single race for both colts and fillies, the Poule d'Essai, which was first run in 1840 at the Champ de Mars, moving to Longchamp in 1857.
