Potter Puppet Pals

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Potter Puppet Pals is an internet phenomenon. It is a series of short films -- some animated, some live-action -- featuring the characters from the Harry Potter series in a puppet show. It was created by Neil Cicierega of Kingston, Massachusetts, based on a comic strip series by his sister Emmy. Two cartoons were released, "Bothering Snape" and "Trouble at Hogwarts", and two live-action shorts have been released, "Potions Class" and "Wizard Angst". Much peripheral multimedia has also been released in relation to the series, such as "Sexy Snape" and "Emmy's Christmas Present".

[edit] Characters

Harry: The normally determined Harry Potter tends to now give up too easily. He enjoys accompanying Ron in his "bothering sprees." He still thinks Hogwarts is the best place in the world, and apparently wants to pick up hot babes. He was really cranky in "Wizard Angst" and hurt Ron's feelings. Has nightmares about Dobby eating his skin.

Ron: Given a much higher, squeakier and sillier voice than what is heard in the movie. His favorite hobby now seems to be bothering Snape, and he even bothers Voldemort in "Trouble at Hogwarts." He seems to be in love with Harry, which he openly admits in the second one. Before Harry can say much but "Um...", Dumbledore appears and all is forgotten. He gets his head blown off in a secret hidden short.

Hermione: Not given as much of a silly role as the other two, but does say "I love to learn." She has a bit deeper voice than Ron but not as much as Harry. Only appears in the second cartoon and real life puppet in "Potions Class" but only talks when she asked Professor Snape "What are we going to learn today?", and in "Wizard Angst" where she is first seen defending Ron from Harry, but Harry fights anyway, and while the camera is focused on them Hermione sinks under the stage. She later comes back at the end right before they start laughing, and at the end when Dumbledore flys into the air and then Harry says "Everybody make a wish.".

Snape: Always declares his presence with, "I am Snape, the potions master." Despite trying to kill Harry and Ron, the children love him. During his attempt to kill Voldemort in "Trouble at Hogwarts" (his wand emits a farting noise and green sparks fly out), he is killed by Voldemort, but mysteriously comes back to life later. He responds to the kids' marvel at his resurrection by saying "So it would seem...". And apparently has a potion to help "score with hot babes", as said in the real-life short "Potions Class", also found on YouTube.

Dumbledore: Transformed from a wise old man into someone who seems very much alive, so much so, that he often strips off and roots young boy's pockets (finding nine Sickles and a Dungbomb). He also needed "expired gorilla milk" for his bowels. Uses the word alas in a non-existing sense (e.g. "Alas, (...) this is my lucky day!").

Lord Voldemort: From intelligent overlord to easily fooled. He is beaten much more easily by the children now. He gets shot by Harry, Ron, and Hermione with Uzis in the second animation. He makes a cameo appearance in the live action short "Wizard Angst" when Harry quits magic and sends Ron to fight him.

Dobby: Only mentioned in "Wizard Angst" when Harry claims he has nightmares about Dobby eating Harry's skin clean off every night.

Filch: Only mentioned in "Wizard Angst" when Snape decides Harry and Ron's punishments for fighting: In the dungeon, a drunk Filch will have a cactus and a croquet mallet to injure Harry and Ron, but they stop Snape by casting a spell on him that makes him poop his pants.

Draco Malfoy: Only appeared in Potter Puppet pals adventure. He has an abnorally large head.

[edit] Easter Eggs

  • In the Trouble at Hogwarts cartoon, you can access a hidden short. To do so, use the freeze-frame buttons in the bottom-left side of the screen to play the scene where Voldemort kills Snape frame by frame. Look for an upside-down pentagram (star) in the green lines coming from the wand in one of the frames (the 20th frame after Voldemort casts the spell) and click it to access the easter egg.
  • In "Emmy's Christmas Present" when Rupert Grint says 'You can give my buttock a squeeze', if you click it it honks.
