Talk:Portledge School

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is the first article I have written from scratch, so I am sorry for any problems that I may have caused. I do not know how to list this article as a "Stub" (my attempt is visable), so any help with that would be appreciated (its category would be education or schools). Help from anyone is greatly appreciated. RideABicycle 20:43, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Template Please

I have no idea how to add a template. I did manage to get the image to show, but I would like it to look better with a template. Again, any help is appreciated. RideABicycle 21:04, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Speshk Clearing

The clearing of the Portledge School page by user Speshk (17:13, 1 December 2006), was unnecessary and has been reverted.

Since when does information have to be "authorized" by an institution to be included online? All Wikipedia would be then is an advertisement catalog.

Other edits have also been reverted, as they either unnecessarily remove information, make the sports section even harder to read, or are partisan.

[edit] POV tag on main page

I added the tag to the article's top, then moved the following, which was at the article's top, here:

[The following 'submission' contains opinion and erroneous information not authorized by Portledge School. See www.portledge.org for reliable information about the school.]

Hope this was done correctly. Please alter as appropriate. --Ebyabe 17:03, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for helping, but I was already working to fix it...I had removed most of the subjective material. I'd like to revert it to my last edit and work from there, but if there is some issue I don't see, then I'd appreciate a point-out. RideABicycle 23:35, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Inclusion of Philosophy

436ps' inclusion of the Portledge philosophy seems like it should be in wikisource, not wikipedia. Unless it contributes factual information about the school, its just a trivial tidbit that does not help a viewer to know anything about the school as it actually functions.

Frankly, there seem to be users with an agenda who are concerned purely with advancing their own goals and do not care about the content of the article at hand. Those who are biased, be they employees, administrators, or paid marketers should not post unless they are sure that they do not care about the public image of the school.

There's nothing wrong with school spirit, but don't let it interfere with a public encyclopedia that is supposed to present factual information. RideABicycle 23:44, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Logo Use

The crest is a logo, which, under Fair Use law, is allowed to be used without consent of the copyright owner. It has been replaced. RideABicycle 22:50, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
