Portraits of Hugo Perez
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Portraits of Hugo Perez were an instrumental rock three-piece from Melbourne, active from 2001 to 2002.
The band utilised cyclic rhythms, detailed guitar parts and Bartók-style dissonance to create pieces with high kinetic and dynamic energy.
Portraits of Hugo Perez completed two tracks for a 7" slated for release on Brendan Webb's Handpressed records, but the release was cancelled after the band broke up due to creative differences.
Nigel Yang and Sean Stewart made a distinct musical break from 'Portraits' in their subsequent project HTRK, whilst Luke Benzie went on to play drums for Colditz Glider, Riff Random and Split Lips.
