Porto Canal (Oporto Channel) is a metropolitan television station for Greater Porto, Portugal based in Matosinhos. Launched on September 29, 2006, it is the third regional network launched in the region, but only another network is on air, due to the transformation of former NTV (from Porto TV, based in Vila Nova de Gaia) into RTPN, RTP's news channel, but unlike NTV, Porto Canal will only focus on the 14 municipalities of Porto Metropolitan area and not all the northern part of the country. Unlike its rival Invicta TV, Porto Canal operates in the major cable company in Portugal, TV Cabo.
