Talk:Ponyboy Curtis

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Everything here can probably be added to the plot summary for the Outsiders. 156.63.85.15 18:55, 29 September 2005 (UTC)

Agreed. It's a (poor) re-hash of the novel synopsis. Rufous 16:12, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

The second paragraph has been re-written to re-focus on Ponyboy as a character, also, don't mistake "heavily summarized" for "poor" --F-451 22:48, 2 August 2006 (UTC) (original author)

Who is Brandon I. Jones? this paragraph should either be given its own article, or if he is no one of note, should be removed entirely from wikipedia, either way it does not belong in this article.

[edit] Requested move

Ponyboy Michael CurtisPonyboy Curtis — Should use more common name per WP:NC. From only watching the film, I didn't even know his real name was Michael. —Wknight94 (talk) 14:21, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Support. As I recall from the book, "Ponyboy" was his real first name, just as "Sodapop" was his brother's. The other given names I believe were middle names; but the unusual monikers were real (altho' I wonder about the reality of registering one's child in the early 1950's under the names "Ponyboy" and "Sodapop".) --SigPig 06:24, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
  • Support, either Ponyboy Curtis or Michael Curtis and then just mention that his nickname is Ponyboy in the article. Having both in the title isn't right though, IMO. Recury 17:42, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Ponyboy lives in Tulsa, not New York. Dallas used to live in New York, so it can't be set there. The movie makes it clear that it was the authors intention that Outsiders be set in her hometown of Tulsa
