Pontechianale is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Cuneo in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 70 km southwest of Turin and about 50 km northwest of Cuneo, on the border with France. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 202 and an area of 94.5 km2.[1]
The municipality of Pontechianale contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Maddalena (capoluogo), Castello, Villaretto, Rueite, Genzana, Forest, and Chianale.
Pontechianale borders the following municipalities: Bellino, Casteldelfino, Crissolo, Molines-en-Queyras (France), Oncino, Ristolas, Saint-Paul, and Saint-Véran.
