Ponta Garça

Ponta Garça is a parish in the district of Vila Franca do Campo in the Azores. The population in 2001 is 3,577, its density is 129.1/km² and the area is 27.7 km². It is the largest parish in Vila Franca do Campo. It is located on a road linking Lagoa and Ponta Delgada and the eastern part of the island. It is located E of Ponta Delgada and Lagoa, SE of Ribeira Grande and W of Povoação. The main industry are agriculture and manufacturing. The Atlantic Ocean is to the south, farmlands are in the central part and the mountains which are covered with laurisilva forests to the north.
