The Distrito da Ponta Delgada was a district of Portugal that was existed until 1976 when it was abolished and off the map when the Portuguese constitution was reformed. The district used to cover the eastern portion of the Azores Islands and was about 800 km². Its capital was Ponta Delgada. The district was the most populated in the Azores. The district. The district formerly included the Formigas, Santa Maria and São Miguel islands. Under the August 1975 constitution, the district was to be abolished under the Portuguese and the autonomous law. The present administration is under the island name since 1976.

The largest municipality used to be Ponta Delgada as well as its most populated community, the leastly populated area was Vila do Porto.
