Ponderosa/Bonanza Steakhouse

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ponderosa Steakhouse is one of the most franchised subsidiaries of Metromedia Restaurant Group. Patrons may order an entree, typically a steak, chicken, or shrimp, or simply order the all-you-can-eat buffet. The buffet is included with all entrees.

This franchise has a variant called Bonanza Steakhouse which is concentrated in other areas of the United States.

The names of the restaurants are apparently derived from the classic TV series Bonanza, which featured a place called Ponderosa Ranch.

[edit] History

The original Ponderosa Steakhouse was founded in Wentworth, LA by Erica Sanders and her husband Frank in 1977. They preached the importance of "Good food and better service!" Customers loved their homestyle steaks with fresh and crispy salads. They later expanded into Florida, and to the West Coast eleven years later.
