Ponda Baba

In the Star Wars universe, Ponda Baba (also known as Walrus Man) was an Aqualish mercenary. He was a good friend of the mad Doctor Evazan. He hailed from the planet of Ando, the Aqualish homeworld. Ponda Baba attacked Luke Skywalker at the Chalmun's Cantina in Mos Eisley (portrayed in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope). This action caused Obi-Wan Kenobi, who was traveling along with Skywalker, to sever the Aqualish's arm with his lightsaber, clearly causing the Aqualish great pain. Later, Dr. Evazan finds and attaches a prosthetic arm to Ponda Baba but is killed a short while later by the bounty-hunter Boba Fett, as both of the duo were wanted.^{[citation needed]}

When the original Kenner action figure for Baba was released, the then-unnamed alien was called simply "Walrus Man". His proper name (as well as the name of his species) was given in 1989 for his appearance in a star wars role-playing game. ^[1]
