Ponce de Leon Middle School

Ponce De Leon Middle School is a middle school located in Coral Gables, Florida. The school is currently an A school rating by MDPCS, moving up from last year's C. The current principal is Anna Rodriguez. The school has many intelligent students, as well as a gifted program. The school's principal is new, and the funding has been increased. The current population (as of July 2006) is about 1200, a drop from the 1400 students enrolled in 2005. The school was founded in 1924 by Robertson Olsen. It was originally a High school and later changed into a middle school. Unlike most schools, Ponce has block classes (3 periods a day alternating) rather than 6 classes a day.
