Polo Polo

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Polo Polo (born Leopoldo García Peláez[1]) is a Mexican comedian known for his adult-themed comedy shows and albums.

One of the Latino culture's favorite comedians, Polo Polo got his start in 1972 in a small night club Mexico City's Pink Zone[2]. His following quickly grew and he took his show to the much larger Keops Nightclub.

As his popularity continued to grow, the decision was made to move the show to the Crown Hall where he immediately set an attendance record that stands today.

It would not be long before Polo Polo recorded his first album, a compilation of live material from one of his shows in Mexico City, called Viaje a España. Despite a lack of radio airplay due to its racy content, the album went on to sell more than 100,000 copies[3].

Polo Polo's first US appearance was in 1988 at the Super Chache Club in Hollywood where the ten-day run played nightly to a packed house.

The Polo Polo Gibson Amphitheater is named after him.
