Pollaxed refers to the action of being very drunk, i.e. consuming or injecting too much alcohol. e.g. 'James was Pollaxed the other day' or 'Kevin was absolutely pollaxed on Thursday night after all that Vodka.' The word pollaxed is commonly used in a colloquial sense, and is generally not used in civilised conversation

Pollaxed was first formed in Northern Ireland, in the Banbridge area, but is now very wide spread in Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK. Formed from the older word Pollax, which refers to an alcoholic drink.
