From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000 (2000 c. 41) is an Act of Parliament that sets out how political parties, elections and referendums are to be regulated in the United Kingdom. It created the Electoral Commission, an independent body which has responsibility to regulate those areas, and transfers to it the responsibilities already created in the Registration of Political Parties Act 1998 (1998 c. 48).
