Politica
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Politica is the undergraduate journal of the Department of Political Science at the University of California, Berkeley. Politica solicits original student essays on topics broadly political. During each semester, the publication solicits and receives dozens of works, usually senior theses, from universities across the nation. At the end of each semester, Politica compiles the best of these submissions into a single volume which is published once a semester and distributed throughout the academic community.
Politica is the sixth eldest publication on the U.C. Berkeley campus and is the only undergraduate journal of the Political Science Department.

[edit] Objectives
Politica has two primary goals:
1. To provide an open and formal academic forum for the presentation of ideas, primarily in the field of political science and in related disciplines.
2. To stimulate independent research and thought into issues with present and future relevance to our political world.
[edit] Reading/Editing Process
During the first phase of editing, the editors stress: content, writing quality, and length (usually 40-50 pages of writing).
During the second stage of editing, the editors review: structure, quality of research, and the strength of the argument presented.
During the final stage of editing, the editors make a final assessment of: originality of topic and argument, formatting, appeal, and general publishability.
