Polichnitos (Πολίχνιτος) is a municipality on the island of Lesbos, in the Lesbos Prefecture, Greece. Population 5,288 (2001).It is one of the most outstanding places in Lesvos and is a must for everyone who wants to see the traditional architecture of the island. Polichnitos used to be the second biggest town in Lesvos with about ten thousands(10000) residents. Whenever we talk for Polichnitos we have also to refer to Nifida(Νυφίδα), its wonderful beach at Kalloni's gulf with its crystall and clean waters.If you ever go to Nifida you should definitely taste the seafood appetisers at the quaint taverns alongside the shore as well as the famous "ouzo" of Lesvos. Unfortunately, not many holiday makers know this little paradise near Polichnitos.
