Pokémon Radio Tower
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Pokémon Radio Tower is a fictional radio tower in the Pokémon series. It is located in Goldenrod City of the Johto region.
In Pokémon Gold/Silver/Crystal, the Radio Tower broadcasts music to be played through the player's Pokégear after they have obtained the radio card. It is also taken over by Team Rocket. In the Anime, Prof. Oak broadcasts his radio show from here. There is also a radio tower in Kanto, but it plays a much smaller role. The only notable thing about the Kanto one is that it broadcasts Pokéflute music to wake the Snorlax in front of Diglet's Cave.

[edit] Overview
The Radio Tower is just that, a radio tower. It broadcasts music that the player can listen to opposed to the background music of the area that they are in during gameplay. If the player chooses, after they select a station on the radio, they can read the words, seeing as their is no audible communication in the games. Depending on the station it will talk about trainers that the player has met or members of the Elite Four, give that days lucky number(a free lottery based off of the players trainer I.D. for prizes such as a Master ball), say where certain species of Pokémon can be found, or give Pokédex information on certain Pokémon.
[edit] Team Rocket Takeover
In the Gold, Silver, and Crystal games, the revived Team Rocket take over the tower after you get your seventh badge in an attempt to contact Giovanni in order to convince him to become their leader once again. It is your duty to stop them if you ever want to get your eighth badge, seeing as they have cut off your path to Blackthorn City. To do this you must fight your way to the top of the tower and battle the man there for the basement key. Then leave the tower, and go to the Underground Path. Then you must open the door that your new key opens. Fight your way to the center of the room where they are keeping the head of the radio tower hostage. He will then give you the Card key, which opens the second part of the tower like a room key at a hotel. Then you must return to the tower, open the second section on the third floor, and fight your way back up to the top in the new sections to finally face off against the new head of Team Rocket. After you defeat him the Tower Head will give you the, Rainbow Wing (Gold version), Silver Wing (Silver version), or the Clear Bell (Crystal version). The Rainbow Wing makes Ho-oh available at the Tin Tower in Gold, the Silver Wing makes Lugia available at the Whirl Islands in silver, and the Clear Bell makes Suicune available at the Tin Tower in Crystal. The Pokémon will be at level 40 and will only be available to battle once, seeing as it is a legend.
[edit] In the Anime
In the Anime, Prof. Oak hosts his radio show from the Radio tower.
