Shouldnt this article be 'Point Peron, Western Australia' ??SatuSuro 01:01, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

We don't seem to have a general agreement in place to pre-disambiguate all geographical landmarks that way. Towns always get disambiguated that way; rivers usually; islands sometimes; lakes virtually never. Perhaps it is time to start a discussion on this. Snottygobble 01:32, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

Smithfield, London, Jonestown and Centreville (aka Frank Zappa) amongst others - are in the thousands in our "friends' country to the east", they usually qualify the state, (and on wiki they rarely qualify the country which is going to be a logistic nightmare when they have listed every admin category in the usa without qualifying the us in the title) . Rivers are a nightmare - see the list of rivers in australia to see what I mean. There is a need for qualification for all geographical features, full stop. SatuSuro 01:39, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

I agree. Did you know there's a Margaret River, Western Australia near Halls Creek? Snottygobble 01:47, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
If you start a discussion thread at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Australian places on this topic, I will immediately follow you there to provide support. Snottygobble 01:51, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
I should have said "I agree, except for the 'full stop' bit". I must insist on the occasional exception. For example, I would oppose renaming Uluru to Uluru, Northern Territory or Uluru, Australia. Snottygobble 01:55, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
Point Taken, but very rare exceptions, assuming the limited geographic knowledge of the average wiki user  :) SatuSuro 04:26, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
