Points Of Authority is the title of a song by the nu metal band Linkin Park.

Although it is the fourth song on their debut album Hybrid Theory, the band have actually made many versions of this song.

  1. Points & Authority (Demo 1) - Demo 1 was named "Points & Authority"
  2. Points Of Authority (Demo 2)
  3. Points of Authority (original Hybrid Theory song, released as a single in 2001)
  4. Pts.Of.Athrty - Reanimation remix made by Jay Gordon of Orgy
  5. Pts.Of.Athrty (remix) - b-side Reanimation remix made by Crystal Method
  6. Points Of Authority/99 Problems/One Step Closer (mashup with Jay-Z's songs)

The guitar work for "Points Of Authority" is similar to "Don't Stay", a track from Meteora. Furthermore, the song is characterized by the presence of a single rap-driven verse (the third one), which makes its structure similar to those of Papa Roach's "Broken Home" and "She Loves Me Not", and Machine Head's "Blank Generation".

Contrarily to popular belief, "Points of Authority" was never called "Vertical Limit". This belief is most likely due to the fact the song was originally thought to have been featured on the soundtrack to the film Vertical Limit, but it was not.
