Pointless Fest

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pointless Fest is an annual four-day hardcore punk festival situated in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the month of August. Although not recognized in mainstream society it is one of the "best-kept secrets" of the Philadelphia punk scene. It's organized every year by Tony Pointless of R.A.M.B.O. (of which the festival is named after) for R5 Productions.

In 2006, the festival was abruptly cancelled when tension between out-of-state (and non-paying) loiterers outside and the security hired for the show escalated to the point of fighting. The police were called and prevented rioting on Chestnut Street. Because most of the attendees were inside the venue (World Inferno Friendship Society was still finishing their set), it is unclear what happened to trigger the violence and police involvement. There are currently no official reports on what happened, save for a few stories by by-standers and R5's owner, Sean Agnew. It is, however, commonly reported that the violence erupted due to tension between concert attendees and the hired security guards - members of the notoriosly violent FSU (Friends Stand United) crew.
