[edit] History
The light was established in 1870, but as a result of an earthquake in 1906, the light tower was reconstructed in 1908. The new 115 foot tower had a donut-shaped buttress was placed around the base of the tower, giving it additional support to protect from earthquakes and forming a circular workroom. The station was automated in 1977, however the original first order Fresnel lens remains in the tower.
