POSTECH or Pohang University of Science and Technology is a private university in Pohang, South Korea dedicated to research and education in science and technology. In 1998, it was ranked by Asiaweek as the best science and technology university in Asia. [1]

The official history of POSTECH begins on November 9th, 1986. However, the school's opening is actually celebrated on December 3rd (notice the number 12 3).

The first students matriculated on 2nd March 1987, all of them lived in 4 dorms in their first year. The full name of POSTECH at the beginning was Pohang Institute of Science and Technology.

The university comprises ten undergraduate faculties and eleven graduate schools. Faculties include physics, mathematics, chemistry, life science, material science & engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial and management science & engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, computer science & engineering, chemical engineering, and humanities and social science.
