Poe (The Legend of Zelda)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A Poe is a ghostly enemy in The Legend of Zelda series. Poes usually wear robes concealing their identities and carry lanterns. According to the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time strategy guide, poes are composed of pure hatred. However, a few poes are friendly. Several people express interest in the them, including The Cyclops-Hooded Man in Hyrule and Dampé the gravedigger. In some Zelda games, the player can capture poes in bottles to sell them or eat them. In The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, there are a number of big poes hidden in Hyrule Field (as future Link). If the player gives all ten big poes to the poe salesman, he is rewarded with a bottle.
[edit] Jalhalla
Jalhalla is the king of Poes (and apparently Ghinis as well), and so is very large, as is with most of the series' rulers. Jalhalla resembles a gigantic version of the Poes from Wind Waker, but has a differently shaped mask and a horribly bloated stomach. The name Jalhalla is probably based on Valhalla, the Norse heaven for heroes and home of Odin. Jalhalla himself was probably based on Boolossus from Luigi's Mansion, as both are several ghosts merged together. The battle music when fighting Jalhalla is reminiscent of a French accordion.
Jalhalla appears in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker as boss of the Earth temple, and in The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures as a boss.
