Podcast Pickle

Podcast Pickle is both a podcast/vidcast directory and community which lists over 11,000 casts as of November 2006. Podcast Pickle aims to set itself apart from other directories through the building of a true community by using in-depth profiles, blogs, favorites subscriptions, and community forums with the focus not only on the podcasts/vidcast, but on the casters and promotion of members as well. This community helps get listeners involved in podcasting as well as podcasters/vidcasters. Launched on March 27, 2005, by Gary Leland, Podcast Pickle was the world's first podcast/vidcast community. This podcast will tickle your pickle!

  • Podcast Pickle was one of the first directory to provide users a podcast/vidcast player. They also were the first podcast site to have a content rating systems for all shows on their site.
  • In August 2006, Time Magazine adds Podcast Pickle to their list of 50 coolest websites, and is listed on their website Time.com as such.

  • Podcast Pickle has started a network of podcast directories, and podcast related sites. Individual directories that are for a single genres of podcasts.
  • Their second directory created was SportPodcasts.com a directory specializing in sports podcasts only.
  • In March of 2006 Podcast Island (a virtual podcast directory) was created. It the first island in Secondlife dedicated to podcasting.
  • Then on August 7th, 2006 ChurchPodcasts.com was released to the public. A directory for Christian related podcasts.
  • On September 1st, 2006 SciFiPods.com went live. A podcast directory just for science fiction podcasts. Later in September Pickle's Podcast News was released. A Podcasting News Site that uses podcasters as reporters.
  • October 31st, They introduce Podcast Inspector. A website for searching multiple podcast directories
  • November 15th, sees the introduction of PodcasterTree.com. A site for podcasters to show which podcasts influenced them to make thier own podcast
