Family and Education Born January 9, 1986 to Elmer Mannina and Mary Kathryn (Mimi) Baynes. Had 2 brother, Matt (1982) and Mike (1984). Brought in to the world at Elgin Community Hospital. Lived in Schaumburg, Illinois, a northwest suburb of the city of Chicago, Illinois from 1986- Present day. Attended Meineke Pre School at the age of 5. Attended Evrett Dirksen Elementary School from kindergarten to the sixth grade. Graduated to Robert Frost Junior High where he graduated with honors in 2000. Attended James B. Conant High School in Hoffman Estates, Illinois where he graduated in class of '04. Played one year of Junior A hockey after graduating high school with hopes of revieving a college scholarship. Now attends the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Achievements Excelled and lettered in numerous sports in his childhood and young adulthood. Participated in such sports as: Soccer, baseball, hockey, wrestling and lacrosse. Started playing soccer at the age of four and decided he wanted to broaden his horizons and took on the sports of baseball and ice hockey. Played in the Schaumburg Athletic Association house league for 4 years. During this time was also playing travel hockey for the Northwest Chargers out of Rolling Meadows, Illinois. Once he entered Junior High School he joined the wrestling team for two years where he helped the varsity squad for his two year stint in the sport. Once he moved on to high school was faced with a life altering decision to continue wrestling, playing baseball and hockey or dedicating all of his time to school and hockey. Made the jump from AA hockey to playing for the Chicago Chill AAA. Played for 5 yeard in the AAA hockey system for the Chicago Chill, Chicago Mission and Team Illinois. After graduating High School decided to further his hockey career and try out for the Springfield Junior Blues of the North American Hockey League with aspirations of recieving a college scholarship. Although unable to recieve a scholarship through the Jr. Blues, he did gain acceptance to the prestigious University of Illinois where he would play for the Fighting Illini's men's hockey team.
