Plymouth Pavilions
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Pavilions, located in the centre of Plymouth is Southwest England's leading entertainment and sports complex. As well as an ice rink, it also boasts a swimming pool, and several restaurants and an events arena. The multi-functional arena can be used for corporate hire but also plays host to many shows and concerts, including for 2006, Arctic Monkeys, Kaiser Chiefs, Sugababes and Jack Johnson.
Every weekend the arena is host to British Basketball League matches, usually with sell-out crowds of up-to 1,500 coming to support the Kularoos Plymouth Raiders.
The Pavilions are built on the site of the former Millbay railway station. The granite pillars which can be seen outside the main entrance were once the gate posts to the station.
