Plymouth Adventure

Plymouth Adventure is a motion picture drama released in 1952. It was directed by Clarence Brown and starred Spencer Tracy, Gene Tierney, Van Johnson, Leo Genn, Barry Jones, Dawn Addams, Lloyd Bridges and Noel Drayton. It was written by Helen Deutsch, from the novel by Ernest Gebler.

The film tells a fictionalized version of the Pilgrim voyage across the Atlantic Ocean to North American aboard the Mayflower. During the long sea voyage, Capt. Jones (Tracy) falls in love with Dorothy Bradford (Tierney). The love triangle is resolved in a tragic way at the film's conclusion. Van Johnson provides comic relief as the stowaway, Coppin.

The picture won the Oscar for Best Effects.
