I think the sandbox template should instruct people to submit humorous material to BJAODN. One time, Jondel made a goofy article with a fat cat, and got submitted to Wikicomedy. --SuperDude 17:38, 13 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] How do you change the shortcut box?
On the sandbox page, it has only one shortcut, to WP:SB. How do you put the other one, WP:SAND on? Jfingers88 16:47, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] New Reset
Right... Well, anyway, the reset script seems to be broken, so I've now created an alternative... If anyone has any better alternatives, feel free to incorporate it.—G.He 03:07, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
- I don't have any better ideas, though I've changed the autosummary slightly since many users who use this won't be using popups so there's no need to advertise popups in the autosummary. Pegasus1138Talk | Contribs | Email ---- 18:46, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Wha?
Why can't this be named something simple like {{sandboxhead}} or something? — Ilyanep (Talk) 02:27, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
- Well, I think it's because people wanted to have the "Please leave this line alone" part to tell testers to leave the transclusion line alone, even though half the time they don't care...—G.He 02:37, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

- Maybe we could make it so Template:Please leave this line alone (sandbox heading) redirects to Template:Sandboxhead, then we could put {{Please leave this line alone (sandbox heading)}} in the sandbox page, but it will actually be showing Template:Sandboxhead.

[edit] More Discussion
- The sandbox is really one of those situations where having section only protection would be helpful so that the notice could stay there all the time and be protected but the rest of the page would be editable but I doubt that's ever going to happen. Pegasus1138Talk | Contribs | Email ---- 22:58, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
- Well, now I've blanked the page so that it will ONLY appear on Wikipedia:Sandbox... Maybe it will discourage people from changing the header?—G.He 23:24, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
- Well, at least we still know that you just used <includeonly> tags and that you didn't really blank it. But, what would be really good is if we used <noinclude>#REDIRECT [[Wikipedia:Sandbox]]</noinclude>, then it will automatically redirect the page to the sandbox, but not the template, but the noinclude tags will mess up the redirect, so we can't do that. --GeorgeMoney T·C 23:29, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

- If you look at my userpage history, you will see that I "protected" it by putting hidden message tags <!-- --> on the text that people thought they were editing, but my real userpage was transcluded there from one of my sub-pages, so any changes they made wouldn't show up, because they were editing a hidden message. Do you think we should do that here? --GeorgeMoney T·C 00:10, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

The sandbox reset function for the template has been restored as well as the Sandbot's operation. If you have any further problems, please contact AllyUnion for service. Thank you, have a great day! --AllyUnion (talk) 08:00, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Interwiki links
Are they really necessary? They make the page well over twice as long as the heading and any content themselves. --Rory096 22:26, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Purge
I think a Purge link would be helpful on the sandbox heading.
[edit] Image
Wouldn't the sandbox look much better if it had an image? I think sandboxes or sand sculptures would be great. TZMT (de:T) 11:36, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Recent changes
The recent changes to this template have made the sandbox look like this (at least in IE). I doubt this is what was wanted, especially with the pair of |} visible. I was fine with the previous version, which I had reverted it to, but Sandbot changed it back. Could someone fix this? Thanks. Timrem 02:24, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
- Not an Internet Explorer problem. I use Safari and it shows up similar to this way too. Some underlying technology that Sandbot looks for needs to be modified to fix it. --WCQuidditch ☎ ✎ 15:06, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Template
...so what IS the template? Is it the 'locked' sign?

[edit] Trivial edits
Please replace the <br>
before the reset link with <br />
. And I think it would look neater if the link was surrounded with span tags of the <kbd>plainlinks</kbd> class as in: <span class="plainlinks">[http://www.cs.ucr.edu/~jylee/cgi-bin/sandbot/{{NAMESPACE}}/{{PAGENAMEE}}.cgi Click here to reset the sandbox.]</span>
[edit] lb equiv
please add lb:Wikipedia:Sandkaul to interwiki, thx. --Briséis 18:28, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Sandbot
There is currently a link in the sandbox header that is supposed to manually reset the sandbox; since Sandbot is offline (and has been almost two weeks), it obviously doesn't work. EssjayBot is currently filling in, and has manual resets for the sandboxes (links are on the bot's userpage); could someone with a bit better idea of exactly what will be being changed incorporate the correct manual reset link(s) or a link to the resets on the bot's page? Thanks, Essjay (Talk) 07:41, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Too long?
Anyone else think this is too long? Taking up half the screen for a template on the sandbox that you can't edit would seem to discourage goofer-arounders (who are likely trying to become productive-editor-ers). Thoughts? Karwynn (talk) 23:09, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Link
The link to sandbox on the template goes to a disambiguation page. Perhaps it could bc changed to Sandbox_(software_development) so that it goes to the correct article. Martinp23 09:42, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Slander?
I propose that we remove the word slanderous from this template. It means the same as libelous, which is on there, but is spoken instead of written. Although Wikipedia does have spoken content, that can still be considered libel. Also, the sandbox doesn't usually contain spoken content. FLaRN (talk) 19:18, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] eu interwiki
{{editprotected}} Please, add the next interwiki if it is possible: eu:Wikipedia:Proba orria. Thanks. 83.34.77.65 15:16, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Request to correct ga interwiki
Can someone correct the ga link to ga:Vicipéid:Clár dubh please? --Kwekubo 18:14, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] time duration until reset
The hidden text on the Sandbox indicates that it's cleaned automatically every two minutes, but the header says twelve hours...which is correct? If the header is incorrect, could someone please fix that? Thanks! —Keakealani 07:32, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] "Click here" links
Please could someone able to edit make link text more descriptive, "click here" means nothing out of context, such as in a list of links (screen readers & general accessibility). For example: "To edit, click here..." would be better as something like; "Edit this page" -- Lee Carré 05:56, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] New Sandbox Project
Could we please add a link to a wikigame that I have moved as a subpage of the sandbox? It can now be found at: Wikipedia:Sandbox/World's Longest Poem. Thanks. -AtionSong 22:27, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
This template is the wrong place to include such a link. Not sure there is a correct place, but this isn't it.—Doug Bell talk 19:23, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

- What about the other "projects" that are linked to on the template? How is this any different? -AtionSong 23:46, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
