Plaxtol
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Plaxtol is a small village of about 1000 inhabitants and (formerly) one bear, in the middle of rural south East England.
It is famous for starting up the popular and famous bakery chain "Plaxtol Village Bakery".
Although there is no longer a bakery in the village, there is a local primary school, a medieval church, a groceries and a butcher's. And a pub.
The name Plaxtol is rumoured to be derived from "Plax" meaning 'play' and "tol" meaning 'area'; there used to be a large green in the middle of the village where children would play after attending church on a Sunday.
There is a Plaxtol cricket club, who win frequent matches, and play other local teams. The club focuses heavily on two core areas: investing in future talent via a thriving junior section, and investing time in the pub after a match, resulting in an expanding mid-section. The club is very eco-friendly, with 97% of all tea materials being recycled into The Bear's dinner, plus a strong commitment to wind power.
Famous alumni include:
- Michael Towner, seven-time winner of the Plaxtol Herald "wobbliest walk up The Street" award.
- Sid Swan, long-distance benefactor, with rumoured links to the Russian oligarchs.
- John Terry, now (post-haircut and extreme dental makeover) Chelsea and England captain.
- The Betts boys, Plaxtol's own answer to the Waugh brothers.
- The Court boys, Plaxtol's own answer to the Chuckle brothers.
- Sumjerk Ramdmakar, enigmatic and hypothetical overseas professional.
- Crash, Sumjerk's protegé.
Surrounding villages are Hadlow (once mighty but a shadow of their former selves), Shipbourne (our richer, cockier cousins), Borough Green (footy thugs) and the nearest towns are Tonbridge (home of SOS, Carlos, and the Busted-lookalike production facility that is Tonbridge School) and Sevenoaks.
